New from Behringer, Toro is based on the foot-operated bass synth that rocked coliseums under the feet of Rush, Yes, Genesis, The Police, U2, The Black Keys, and more. Although loved by its users, production of the original Taurus Model 1 lasted only about 5 years—in part because of its awkward (for some) “Spinet Organ” style foot controls, hard-to-transport size, and “Rock-Star” price tag. Thanks to Behringer, the legendary “Bull” stomps again in a much more flexible, compact, and affordable package.
Inside, Toro faithfully replicates the original analog dual-VCO, VCF, VCA, and ladder filter design, which sounds gigantic. Even at moderate volume levels, you can feel Toro's massive low-end right down to your bones--and when cranked up to club-level volume, Toro will shake the foundation with its massive sonics. Although initially designed as a bass synth, Toro’s thick sound and 5-octave range make it an outstanding choice for crafting cutting lead work, EDM hooks, powerful drones, open 5ths, and more.
On the outside, you’ll first notice the sleek, simple, compact Desktop/Euro-rack-compatible modular design, with everything you loved about the classic 70s “Model 1.” Just the original control surface, Toro, Tuba, Bass, and Variable (user-customizable) presets, plus glide (portamento), Decay, and Octave (range) controls are available at the touch of a button. Also included are a variable master volume, filter, de-tuner, and beat control knobs.
Toro features full MIDI implementation for easy integration with your favorite keyboard controller or sequencer. If you want to go full-on old-school, hook up Toro with the Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Foot controller (sold separately) and free up your hands to play the guitar, bass, or more keyboards!
