The Dobro Resonator guitar has been an American classic since the early 1920s. The wood resonator or resophonic style guitar first became a national phenomenon thanks to Dobro pioneer Bashful Brother Oswald, who became the instrument’s virtual ambassador for performing weekly on the Grand Ole Opry for over 60 years. The full, warm tone of the Hound Dog Round Neck is enhanced by a new proprietary nickel-plated Dobro cone.
The Dobro Hound Dog Round Neck from Epiphone features a maple wood body with 3.5 inch depth and a classic single cone resonator/spider bridge construction. The traditional style round mahogany neck joins the body at the 12th fret and has a 25 inch scale with a rosewood fingerboard with 19 frets, a standard 12 inch radius, and a 1.75 inch nut. The single action adjustable truss rod comes with a classic 'bell' cover. Most vintage Dobros are no longer a viable option for modern musicians. The Dobro Hound Dog Round Neck brings back the cherished Dobro sound with modern building techniques that can last for a lifetime of playing.
The Dobro Hound Dog Round Neck has been an American classic for nearly a century influencing the sound of American country, bluegrass, folk and blues.
The Hound Dog Round Neck includes Epiphone’s all metal hardware including premium Grover tuners and a nickel-plated tailpiece. The 'spider' bridge has an ebony cap and a maple base. The Dobro resonator is also newly designed and the body top has classic f-holes.
