The Gibson ES-335 has been one of the world’s most popular guitars and has remained in continuous production since its introduction in 1958. Incredibly versatile, it has been used across genres by some of the world’s greatest guitarists for decades. The Gibson ES-339 was developed from this legendary model and retains the same semi-hollowbody design with a solid maple centerblock, providing increased sustain and improved feedback resistance compared to fully hollowbodied designs. The Gibson ES-339 is a modern classic designed for those seeking the tone and look of an ES-335, but in a slightly smaller, lighter instrument.
Now, the ES-339 Figured takes the ES-339 concept to a whole new level, with the same compact size, versatility, and full functionality of the ES-339, but with the addition of a beautifully figured maple veneer top. The ES-339 Figured has a body made of three layers of maple and poplar, with a gorgeous figured maple layer on the exterior. It is crafted with a maple centerblock and quarter-sawn spruce bracing just like its larger brother, and players will be impressed by the lightweight feel and expanded range of tonal capabilities.
The mahogany neck has a comfortable Rounded C profile and is topped with a rosewood fretboard that is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and features acrylic small block inlays. The ES-339 Figured is equipped with high-end appointments, including Gibson's hand-wired control assembly with separate 500k volume and tone controls for each pickup. High-quality Orange Drop® tone capacitors are also used for added clarity and responsiveness.
For electronics, the ES-339 Figured features a ’57 Classic humbucker™ in the neck position, perfectly paired with a slightly hotter ’57 Classic + humbucker in the bridge position. These pickups are ideally matched to each other and offer a wide range of sonic options. Rounding out the hardware, the ES-339 Figured includes an ABR-1 bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece anchored into the maple centerblock for excellent sustain. A Gibson hardshell case is also included to keep this beautiful and versatile instrument safe whether you’re heading to practice, a jam session, or your next gig.
