The PMC8-2 SUB is the larger of PMC's new subwoofers. It features 2 of the same custom 8” LF drivers as the PMC8-2 and is powered by a 2-channel version of the PMC8-2 amplifier, resulting in 400W for each bass driver.

The PMC8-2 SUB can be used in two distinct ways:

• As a conventional subwoofer, to extend the low frequency extension of our compact monitor models (PMC6 and PMC6-2) or reproduce the LFE channel of a surround/immersive system. The subwoofer will run its audio input through a low pass filter in order to only reproduce the sub frequencies.
• As an XBD expansion to the PMC 6-2 or 8-2 speaker. In this case the subwoofer provides extra low frequency headroom to the PMC 6-2 or 8-2. The subwoofer will run its audio input through exactly the same filters as those applied to the PMC 6-2 or 8-2’s woofers, duplicating its frequency content and allowing the system to reach a higher SPL output with seamless integration. The PMC8-2 can already reach full LF extension so does not need a conventional subwoofer.
