Introduced at the 2026 Namm show, Yamaha’s Pacifica series just got an exciting new addition. The Pacifica SC (single-cutaway) features a very traditional silhouette and timeless style. In keeping with Yamaha’s reputation for innovation and the details that make the difference, the new SC is not your dad's (or even great-granddad's) bolt-on Single Cut. However, with its outstanding blend of '50s style and modern innovation, Alto Music’s guitar staff thinks that you (and your Dad) will be duly entranced.
The Pacifica SC Standard Plus features a time-tested, proven combination of an Alder body and rock maple neck, but a closer look reveals modern enhancements from headstock to endpin. Starting with the specially contoured top and back, players of all sizes will appreciate the ergonomic comfort that slab-body SC designs lack. Under the guard, and ticked away out of sight, Yamaha’s Acoustic Design technology chambering reduces player fatigue caused by weight, promoting better resonance and sustain.
The neck features a rounded C-shaped carve and a smooth, custom-tinted satin-finished back, well-suited for players of all types and styles. Each MIJ-built SC Pro sports a best-of-both-worlds 9.5"-12" compound-radius playing surface. Stainless Steel medium jumbo fret wire offers supreme durability and a bright, sharp attack. All 22 frets are nearly effortlessly accessible, thanks to the recessed bolt-on joint and smoothly shaped heel.
Loaded with premium Gotoh hardware, the vintage-look buttons pair with a modern spin-down string lock, a Graphtec nut, and dual string trees for exceptional tuning stability. At the other end, Gotoh’s classic style bridge plate/pickup mount is fitted with compensated brass saddles, delivering sustain, punch, and twang with vastly improved intonation.
Outfitted with ultra-sensitive “Reflectone” pickups, co-developed by Yamaha with Rupert Neve Designs, capable of outstanding focus both clean and wildly overdriven. Configured with a T-style player favorite neck-position Humbucker and a staggered-pole single in the bridge position, tuned for uniform output. The pickups are controlled by a three-way blade and a passive push-pull tone potentiometer, providing classic twang and brightness or a growling, midrange-forward character.
The Yamaha SC Standard Plus lacks none of the time-honored bolt-on single-cut’s versatile workhorse character and delivers a much greater sonic range. Plus, it’s got massive curb appeal, with its slightly offset body, deep cutaway, and several color options. Finally, Yamaha’s Initial Response Acceleration (IRA) after finishing treatment promotes even greater resonance and full-range sonics. Available with a maple board in Ash Pink or Black Metallic, or with a rosewood board in Ash Pink, Black Metallic, Shell White, Breeze Metallic Blue, and Sunny Orange. The Yamaha Pacifica Pro is made in Japan and includes a Certificate of Authenticity and a Hardshell case.
